Welcome back to that neat article that explores the voice behind your favorite voice actors, "Hey, It's That Voice!" Today, we will look at a big buff Cheeto puff, Homeworld's very own soldier, Jasper!
Jasper is a very interesting character that fans have fallen in love with quickly. Sure, she wants to brawl and was designed solely for fighting, but that doesn't mean she doesn't have her own fan club. There is just so much depth to the character, and so much of us want her to change for the better. But it does raise the question of would she be able to curb her violent nature? Either way, I know that I want to see Jasper again. But, who is the voice behind this brawler? Why, that would be Kimberly Brooks!
If this is Jasper just fighting against a corrupted gem, I'm a little afraid to see her during the Gem War. |
Kimberly Brooks was born on July 29, 1981 and she has had a big history of voice acting. She first started in 1997 with video games, namely Goosebumps: Attack Of The Mutants, Dark Reign: The Future Of War, Burning Rangers, and Barbie Riding Club. Most of these first roles would be bit parts. But she would eventually make a name for herself, starring in numerous of roles from video games to films to cartoons to even sitcoms. Her roles (in chronological order) include Dexter's Laboratory, The Powerpuff Girls, As Told By Ginger, Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, Star Wars: Galactic Battleground, Totally Spies!, The Wild Thornberrys Movie, Ozzy & Drix, Justice League, EverQuest II, The Fairly OddParrnets, Danny Phantom, Shuriken School, Trauma Center: New Blood, Lollipop Chainsaw, Gravity Falls, Motorcity, Doc McStuffins, Infinity Blade III, Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2, The Legend Of Heroes: Trails Of Cold Steel, Ultimate Spider-Man, Two And A Half Men, The Boondocks, Skylanders: Trap Team, Vixen, Fallout 4, Sanjay And Craig, The Big Bang Theory, and the pilot of Pure Genius.
Quite a lot of roles, but those are her lesser roles. She has some other roles that are easily more recognizable. For instance, she had the role of Buena Girl from ¡Mucha Lucha! (as well as SnowPea and Cindy Slam).
Left to right: Buena Girl, Ricochet, Masked Dog, and The Flea. Now that I think about it, I can kind of see a parallel between Buena Girl and Jasper; both like to fight. |
Brooks' other roles that you may recognize would include Luna of the Hex Girls from Scooby-Doo (including various films and shows), Chutney from Chowder, Sarasim from Teen Titans, Stormy from the Winx Club, Princess Looma from Ben 10: Omniverse, Puff from Static Shock, and more recently Princess Allura from Voltron: Legendary Defender.

And would you believe me if I said there are still more? Because she is very well known for a few more roles, video game roles in particular. Brooks has voiced Barbara Gordon (also known as Oracle and Batgirl for you DC fans) in Batman: Arkham Asylum, Batman: Arkham City, and Injustice: Gods Among Us (even in Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham). She has also voiced the Gunnery Chief Ashley Williams in all three Mass Effect games. Fans of Bioshock: Infinite might recognize the voice of Daisy Fitzroy with Brooks, and same goes for fans of No More Heroes, recognizing Shinobu Jacobs.

I'm sure I'm missing even more roles that the amazing Kimberly Brooks has voiced. She has done many voice acting roles, including television bumpers and commercials.
And that will do it for this edition of "Hey, It's That Voice!" Join us next time when we looked at the half of the "power couple".
