My dudes, it is I. Hillo. Your new blower of the Beach City Bugle...in other words, a recently welcomed contributor after some very grueling hazing by the other members of this site that involved tarantulas and poorly animated 90s cartoons.
Let me introduce myself a little better below the cut.
I am an eager animation student from the pacific northwest, but I am currently residing in Southern California for school. For personal and professional reasons, I'm not naming which particular school, but if you want to take a guess, it's the 'Disney' school.
You might actually already know me as the clown behind the ridiculousness that is ask-bigdonut-lars.tumblr.com, my fanfictions under the penname BarracudaHeart, and my drawings and cartoons from my personal/fanart blog cinnabees.tumblr.com.
I've loved drawing and animation ever since I punched my way out of my mother's womb, splattering the doctors with baby goo, and then fighting my twin brother two minutes later when he challenged me. We had to stop the fight and call a truce when I almost strangled him with my own umbilical cord.
Anyway back to animation, I am a person who draws every day, both for my education, and my pure enjoyment. It keeps me busy, and it keeps me going forward when nothing else will. I work alongside my friends on various projects and I love every minute of it. Even when things are going to hand in a heckbasket, I never have lost my love of drawing.
Some of my inspirations include the work of Tove Jansson, Beatrix Potter, Tissa David, Shiyoon Kim, Winsor McKay, Richard Williams, Jim Henson, Joe Ranft, Hayao Miyazaki, Sally Cruikshank, Gekidan Inu Curry, Alberto Vasquez, and of course Rebecca Sugar.
My specialty for this blog, I hope, is to shed light on the members of the Crewniverse, and highlight their work beyond the show.
When I'm not drawing, I love to listen to music, read, write, knit, cook, and garden. And talking about opossums and saving the bees.
Some of my favorite animated series' aside from Steven Universe are Bojack Horseman, The Simpsons, Archer, Gravity Falls, Star Vs. the Forces of Evil, King of the Hill, and Samurai Jack. I'm also a big fan of indie comics and animation, particularly the work of Alberto Vasquez, whose graphic novel Psiconautas spawned a short film, Birdboy (one of my favorites) in 2010, and a feature film named the same as the novel earlier last year, and the works of Marjane Satrapi, who wrote the graphic novel Persepolis.
I think that's about it. You can contact me at the blogs listed above, or my email, lynscaa@gmail.com
